General Information:

  • Doussie has a scientific name of Afzelia xylocarpa, family of Fabacea.
  • This tree has low branches, elongated leaves, and large trunk. The average height of the tree is about 25 meters with high hardness and durability. It is often used to make furniture and handicrafts.

How To Distinguish Doussie:

  • Color: changing from red to dard brown or light brown.
  •  Observing wood grains: the pattern is quite large. It is larger than the grains of oak. The yellow sapwood is scattering over the black one. The scattering sapwood happened because of the living condition of the tree in a year.
  • The specific weight of Doussie is very hard and heavy.
